We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and grow the cross-functional product engineering team responsible for one of LiveEO's core products. This team builds the software, data, and platform capabilities that transform satellite data into reliable, actionable intelligence for our customers.

As Engineering Manager, you will own the technical strategy, team health, and delivery execution across a diverse group of engineers - spanning data engineering, ML, geospatial and remote sensing, software, platform, backend, and frontend. You will be the connective tissue between technical excellence and customer value: setting direction, removing obstacles, and cultivating a culture where talented people do their best work on a product that matters.

This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role in a fast-moving startup. You will work directly with C-level and VP-level leadership on product & overall company strategy, collaborate with our AI and Infrastructure teams, and be a key voice in shaping how LiveEO builds and scales its product portfolio.

Your challenge

  • Lead the definition and evolution of the technical roadmap and architectural standards for your product area. Ensure the team builds for scalability, reliability, and maintainability - while staying pragmatic about delivery pace.
  • Directly manage a 10+ person engineering team across multiple disciplines (data, ML, geospatial, software, platform/backend, frontend). Conduct regular 1:1s, support career development and foster a culture of collaboration, feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Uphold engineering excellence across the team - code quality, testing practices, documentation, and architectural review. Establish and maintain standards that keep the codebase healthy and the team productive over the long term.
  • Champion a customer-value mindset across the team. Ensure engineering decisions are grounded in real user needs and that the product your team owns delivers measurable value to customers. 
  • Ownership Own and maintain the engineering team's responsibilities under LiveEO's SOC2 and ISO 27001 compliance programs. Ensure controls are implemented, documented, and upheld as the product and team scale.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and the Designer embedded in your team. While these roles are not in your direct line management, you will be a key partner in shaping product direction, prioritisation, and the overall quality of what gets built and shipped.

Your profile

  • Engineering Leadership Experience: Proven track record managing and growing multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment. Experience leading teams building customer-facing SaaS products and applications is essential.
  • Customer Value Mindset: Demonstrated ability to lead teams with a strong focus on customer outcomes - ensuring engineering effort translates into reliable, high-quality product experiences that users depend on.
  • Geospatial or Earth Observation Experience: Solid understanding of geospatial data, remote sensing principles, or Earth observation workflows. This can come from direct engineering experience or from managing teams working in this domain. Familiarity with satellite-derived data products and the technical challenges of working with spatial data at scale is required.
  • Technical Depth: A strong software engineering background that gives you credibility with your team and the ability to make informed architectural and technical decisions. Experience across backend systems, data engineering, or ML infrastructure is a strong plus.
  • Agile Delivery: Hands-on experience running agile teams using Scrum or Scrumban. Comfortable setting goals, running planning ceremonies, and holding the team accountable to delivery commitments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with C/VP-level leadership, non-technical stakeholders, and engineering peers alike. Comfortable contributing to strategic conversations and translating business needs into technical direction.
  • People Development: Experience conducting meaningful performance conversations, supporting career growth, and building inclusive, high-performing team cultures.
